It was so beautiful to watch these people from Kasigluk and even folks from Pt. Hope. I wish I could have had more time to mingle with the celebration to this year’s dedication to Moses Paukan, Sr. of St. Mary’s who passed away many years ago in the 1980’s and would like to know. Plus, in celebration of John Pingayak of Chevak was there with his wife, Teresa. Here are just a few photos for your enjoyment.
The little girl was so cute, about 3 years, the same age as my little granddauther, Stepanie, who loves to imitate. Despite my constant pain from shingles 5 years ago, I am definately inspired to join a dance group in Bethel along with my little granddaugther Stephanie. My cousins who had a table next to my booth said "Just bring your granddaugther, everybody does!" Yes.
A young boy, above, riding as fastest as he can with an expression that makes everyone happy, tearful joyful laughter of elders in the crowd could be heard. Such healing moments. A form of prayer.
Kassiglurmiut Dance Group above consisting of a new generation of dancers. It is so pleasing to see. It was great to see those young men dancing their hearts out. Lots of laughter.
